Muldoon Dinner is Fun! 6/5/2008

Endowed by Edward Muldoon, Jack Kahl, and John Boler, the Muldoon Center is unique among entrepreneurship programs nationally.  The Center is comprised of an academic component headed by the Kahl Chair and an outreach arm of successful smaller enterprises that are on a growth trajectory.

Each year the Muldoon Center hosts a dinner honoring two individuals. This year’s honorees were:

Mal Mixon III, who received the Edward M. Muldoon Award for Civic Entrepreneurship. This award recognizes leaders of the Greater Cleveland community who have distinguished themselves by their entrepreneurial actions focused on the improvement of society and the enhancement of life in the broader community. “Civic entrepreneurship” implies a strong leadership position in the community through volunteer, philanthropic, and other actions of significant benefit to Greater Cleveland.

Umberto Fedeli who received the John J. Kahl, Sr. Award for Creative Leadership. This award recognizes leaders who have distinguished themselves by the sustained application of creative leadership to their businesses or organizations, resulting in above-average growth and improvement. Leadership of this sort sets clear exemplars for both experienced and emerging entrepreneurs in Greater Cleveland.  To congratulate Umberto: Click Here

Fr. Robert Niehoff, President of John Carroll, welcomed the guests to the campus and updated everyone on our activities.  He gave his impressions from his visit with the Holy Father Pope Benedict XVI while he was in the United States recently.  He also talked about the incoming freshman class which will be the largest in years and he congratulated the recipients’ of the Muldoon Awards on behalf of the University.

The speeches were amazingly funny, as the honorees were introduced by Master Jack Kahl and the 1st Muldoon Award recipient, Sam Miller. There were a lot of familiar faces from the association in this all-star crowd of Cleveland’s business leaders.  To see photos from the dinner: Click Here
